Backup - Format SD Card as ExFAT

Some SD cards in use for backups on StockMate tablets may be formatted as FAT32. This presents problems for users on larger databases, as FAT32 is unable to store a single file greater than 4GB in size and this will therefore result in errors and failures on LiveBackup. These SD cards will therefore need to be re-formatted with EXFAT.

Unfortunately, Android tablets do not appear to allow you to select the file system. As such, users need to format the card using Windows.
  1. Connect the SD card to your computer via SD card reader or slot and make sure it can be detected.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer by double clicking Computer, This PC or My Computer.
    1. Find your SD card. Usually, it is located under “Devices with Removable Storage”. Right click it and select Format.
    2. At the pop-up window, select exFAT from the File System drop-down list.
    3. Under Format options, tick the Quick Format box. Select Start to begin the formatting on SD card.
    4. Wait patiently whilst the system formats the SD card with exFAT. It will generally only take a few seconds, but will vary depending on the size of the disk.
