EBV Import Templates (web)

EBV Import Templates (web)

EBV data relevant to a producers herd, will be provided in a CSV file. Import Templates are required in order for this data to be entered into StockMate. Preset BREEDPLAN templates can be easily utilised and copied from to assist with the Import Template creation process.
There are 3 dataset types in Import Templates; Animals, Percentages and Trends. To Import EBVs an Animals dataset AND a Percentages dataset are, at the very least, required.

Import Templates

  1. To setup a template, select Breeding, EBVs, Import Templates.
  2. Select + New Import Template.
    Alert
BREEDPLAN Files include animal, percentiles and trends data all in the same CSV worksheet.
Preset BREEDPLAN Import Templates included to Import each set of data correctly.
Presets can be duplicated and edited to suit.

  3. Input Name, select a Dataset and Browse to select the Import file.
    Info
Importing EBVs requires, at the least, an Animals dataset Import Template AND Percentiles dataset Import Template
  4. The first 2 rows of data in the CSV file are displayed as a preview of the fields in the imported file. Adjust the Header Row number to specify the header row if not the first row. E.g. BREEDPLAN files Header Row is 3.
Select Auto-generate to add all columns.
  5. For each field in the CSV file listed under 'Mapping Expression', select the relevant StockMate Field from the drop-down list to map the values in the CSV to those in StockMate.
    Info
Some fields may not have a corresponding StockMate field, or may not be of interest to the organisation, these can be left as "(Not Mapped)".

Type to filter the StockMate fields.
    Notes
    Mapping Expression Tips:
When selected, the icon to the left of a Mapping Expression will pop-out Documentation to help correctly format Mapping Expressions where required.

Pay attention to the preview data; in particular accuracy percentages.
Percentages are commonly presented as decimals, however this file has them presented as the actual percentage number, so this is affecting import value.
Using basic arithmetic, you are able to adjust the import value to a more sensical value. /100 = divide by 100, moving the decimal of the import value, 2 spots to the left.
  6. Once all required fields have been mapped, select Save.
  7. The Import Template will be visible on the EBV Import Templates screen.
  8. Repeat the process to create required Import Templates for other datasets.
