Reduce Data on Devices (app)

Reduce Data on Devices allows historical data to be removed and no longer synced, for animals that have been exited, dead, or missing for some time. This decreases the size for the app database, app backups and can improve the performance of the app. An Administrator will need to access the Tenant Settings to turn on the functionality and nominate the number of months. Exited, Dead and Missing animals will then be assessed against the setting and flagged for deletion of historical data on the app database. Any animals purged from devices, based on these options, remain available in StockMate on the web. If the animals' statuses change all historical data will be synced down to the devices again.
The data purge occurs on a per tablet basis, once the tenant setting has been activated, and the daily task run - each tablet will be required to sync and then carry out the purge to gain benefit from this functionality.

Tenant Settings

  1. Select Administration, Tenant Settings, Reduce Data on Devices.

  2. Select the required Purge option/s and timeframes, Save Changes.
    A nightly task is required to mark the animals for purge - therefore, changes to the Tenant Setting will not come into effect until the following day.
    Any animals purged from devices remain available in StockMate on the web, and can be synced down to devices again if the animal becomes active again.

Prompt After Sync

When significant numbers of animals are available for purge, a prompt will be provided after each successful sync - until actioned.
The tenant setting must be applied, and the nightly task given time to compete before animals will become available for purge on the app.
  1. From the StockMate Dashboard, tap Sync. Tap Dismiss on sync completion.

  2. To action the Reduce Data on the device, tap I understand and accept the warning above, Purge Animals.
    To ignore the Reduce Data on Device, tap Cancel. The prompt will be provided again on subsequent syncs until it is actioned.

  3. Depending on the amount of data the purge may take some time, once complete tap Dismiss.

About and Support

At any time the action can be carried out on an app, via About and Support.
  1. From the StockMate Dashboard, tap More (three dots at top-right), About & Support.

    From the StockMate Login Screen, tap ?.

  2. Tap Reduce Data on Device.

  3. Tap I understand and accept the warning above, Purge Animal History.

  4. Depending on the amount of data the purge may take some time, once complete tap Dismiss.

Purged Animals

  1. Find Animal can still be used to Lookup a purged animal. A message will be presented to advise the animal has been purged, tap Dismiss. Only limited data will be displayed.

  2. If a Purged Animal is scanned into a session, a message will be presented to advise the animal has previously been purged, tap Continue. Enter data as required, Save & Close.
    A Note will automatically attach to the animal, including the session code the animal was scanned in.

  3. On the next sync the full history for the animal will be pulled back down to the app.
