Security Overview (web & app)

There are several security features in StockMate to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data as well as ensuring the database is accessible incase of Tablet failure.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an important security option that is available to StockMate users. A Tenant setting can be used to enforce the use of MFA for all users, or individual users can select to use the MFA functionality without the Tenant mandate. Once MFA has been enforced, an Authenticator App (Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator) will need to be installed on a tablet/smart phone to produce time-based 6-digit codes required for Website login and App sync.

Backup functionality exists incase of Tablet failure. The article outlines instructions for loading a Micro SD card, setting up and verifying Live backup and performing a manual backup.
Note: Some SD cards in use for backups on StockMate tablets may be formatted as FAT32. This presents problems for users on larger databases, as FAT32 is unable to store a single file greater than 4GB in size and this will therefore result in errors and failures on LiveBackup. These SD cards will therefore need to be re-formatted with EXFAT. This re-formatting must be done on Windows rather than on the Tablet. The Backup - Format SD card as exFAT article outlines the steps for re-formatting the SD card.

Restore functionality exists in case of Tablet failure, or if the database it too large to sync from scratch. Before using this function, it is vital to ensure that the StockMate app version on the replacement Tablet is updated.

The User Permissions article outlines the StockMate features available to the roles users have been assigned. There are three roles available in StockMate: Admin, Area Manager and Operator.
