The Gallagher TW-1, TWR-1, TW-3 and TWR-5 Weigh Scale indicators can be used with the StockMate App on Android Devices.
The devices used will determine the setup procedures required and the type of information transferred to StockMate, as follows:
- Transfer EID and weight information using an EID Reader and the weigh scale indicator.
- Transfer weight information only using the weigh scale indicator.
- Transfer EID information only using an EID reader and the weigh scale indicator (applicable to TWR-1 and TWR-5 only).
The weigh scale indicator must be connected to the EID reader before proceeding with the setup procedure (except for weight only).
StockMate must be used to initiate the connection between the weigh scale indicator and StockMate. Do not initiate the connection in reverse.
Connecting via Bluetooth: EID over Weigh Scale
The typical process of transferring EID and weight information involves:
- Pairing the EID reader to the weigh scale indicator so the weigh scale indicator holds EID and weight information.
- Setting up a Bluetooth connection between the weigh scale indicator and the tablet so that weight and EID information is transmitted to StockMate during processing.
- Editing hardware configuration on the tablet and in StockMate to reflect your physical setup.
The recommendation is to connect the EID reader via Weigh Scales in StockMate, and pair the weigh scale indicator via Bluetooth to the EID Device prior to continuing.
Refer to Gallagher user manual for further information.
Device settings
Weigh Scale Models with Data Device Options
Some models will require the Data Device to be assigned as Input or Output. To work with StockMate the Data Device option must be Output.
Must be completed prior to attempting to connect the tablet to the Weigh Scales.
- From the Gallagher home screen tap the Settings Cog, Equipment Connections.
- Tap Data Device 1, assign as an Output device.
EID reader
Ensure the TW Weigh Scale indicator is connected to the EID reader. Refer to the Gallagher user manual if further instructions are required.
Tablet
On the Android Tablet, pair the TW Weigh Scale indicator. A pairing code will be displayed on the Android device only. Accept the code.
Typical steps for pairing a device to the tablet; Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Scan. Steps may vary on some Android devices.
Do not pair the EID reader to the tablet - it should only be paired to the Weigh Scale indicator.
- From the StockMate Dashboard, tap More (three dots at top-right), Preferences.
- Tap Config.
Select options so the Hardware Connects screen will look like the screenshot below (Paired Device: select the device paired in step 1). Tap Save & Test to establish the connection.
When the connection has been successfully made, the Save & Test buttons will be green as well as the EID via Scales and Scales BT buttons. Do not proceed unless this is the case.
Weigh Scale Indicator
The steps for setting up the TW Weigh Scale indicator only need to be done on initial setup. After that, the scale will connect automatically unless the communications settings are deliberately changed.
Tap Settings Cog, Device Settings.
- Tap Bluetooth.
The connected Android device will be visible. Tap the device name.
If the Connected Devices section is empty, it means the connection has not been initiated in StockMate. Initiate the connection in StockMate by tapping Save & Test in the Hardware Connections screen. Refer to the Tablet section above for further details.
- When you click ‘Connect’ for the selected device, a ‘Failed to Connect’ message may appear. This is not a cause for concern. As soon as the Session in StockMate is started, the Bluetooth connection will be established.
Ensure the tick is against Data Device (called Data Output on some models). When first setting up it is likely to be against PC/Smart Phone since the TW Weigh Scale indicator needs to be told it will be sending data to another device.
Some models will have multiple options: select Data Device 1 as this was previously setup as the Output port.
- Return to Settings, select Equipment Connections. Tap Data Device (Data Output on some models).
In Data Output/Device Settings, ensure the Type is Data Logger. Output Data: all items should be selected. Send: On Weight Lock, Resend on Data Change: Yes.
Check Data Logger settings, ensure all items are ticked. Some devices may have NOTE unticked.
To edit a field, tap on the field to bring up options.
