Setup Gallagher W610 v2 & W810 v2 Weigh Scale (app)

The Gallagher W610 v2 and W810  v2 can be used to send either:
  1.  An EID and Weight to StockMate in Data Logger Output mode or;
  2. Weight only to StockMate in Ruddweigh mode. 
The W610 v2 and W810 v2 can be connected to StockMate using a:
  1. USB serial Cable; or
  2. Bluetooth dongle and connection lead. The devices do not have built in Bluetooth therefore, a configured Bluetooth dongle and connection lead is required to allow pairing if wanting to connect to StockMate via Bluetooth.
The following instructions are for the Gallagher W610 v2 and W810 v2 Weigh Scale indicators. However, this mode can be used with all Gallagher models.

Setting up Weigh Scale Indicator for Data Logger Mode

Configure the Gallagher w610 v2 or W810 v2 Weigh Scale indicator to prepare for Data Logger Mode with StockMate. This option outputs the EID and Weight directly to StockMate once the weight has been captured.

This configuration is useful when the EID scanner is being used through the Gallagher Weigh Scale indicator.
Ensure the settings on the Weigh Scale indicator are as follows:
  1. Turn the dial to S (SETUP).
  2. Press F1 () until 5.COMMUNICATIONS.
  3. Press F5 (SELECT).
  4. Press F1 () to choose PORT 2.
  5. Press F2 (CHANGE) to Data Output.
  6. Press F3 (OPTION) to Data Output - Data Logger.
  7. Press F4 (CONFIG).
  8. Settings as follows: press F2 (CHANGE) to modify as required (required settings in bold).
    1. Data Output on Lock: ON
    2. Include EID: ON
    3. Include VID: ON
    4. Include Weight: ON
    5. Include Units: ON
    6. Include Condition: ON
    7. Include Draft Gate: ON
    8. Include Note/Trait: ON
    9. External Port Power: ON
  9. Press F4 (PORT)
  10. Press F2 (CHANGE) repeatedly until 9600 is selected
  11. Press F5 (OK) to exit Port settings
  12. Press F5 (OK) to exit Data Logger configuration
  13. Press F5 (OK) to exit Communications settings and go back to Menu
  14. Turn the dial back to O (POWER) to power off the unit
  15. Turn the dial back to A (AUTO) to begin weighing

Setting up Weigh Scale Indicator for Ruddweigh Mode

The Ruddweigh Mode option outputs continuous weight information using the Ruddweigh protocol.  This configuration is useful for viewing weight continuously through StockMate.

This configuration is useful when the EID scanner is connected directly to StockMate.
Ensure the settings on the Weigh Scale indicator are as follows:
  1. Connect the Connection cord, and dongle to Port 2 of the W610v2/W810v2.
  2. Turn the dial to S (SETUP).
  3. Press F1 () until 5.COMMUNICATIONS
  4. Press F5 (SELECT)

  5. Press Press F1 () to choose PORT 2
  6. Press F2 (CHANGE) to Data Output
  7. Press F3 (OPTION) to Data Output - Ruddweigh
  8. Press F4 (CONFIG)
  9. Settings as follows: press F2 (CHANGE) to modify as required (required settings in bold).
    Include Prefix: ON
    Include Weigh State: ON
    Include Weight Units: ON
    Request Mode: ON
    Send Live Weight: OFF
    Send On Weight Lock: OFF
    Sends On Weight Change: OFF
    External Port Power: ON 


  10. Press F4 (PORT)
  11. Press F2 (CHANGE) repeatedly until 9600 is selected
  12. Press F5 (OK) to exit Port settings
  13. Press F5 (OK) to exit Data Logger configuration
  14. Press F5 (OK) to exit Communications settings and go back to Menu
  15. Turn the dial back to O (POWER) to power off the unit
  16. Turn the dial back to A (AUTO) to begin weighing

StockMate Settings

Connecting using USB Serial Cable

Alert
The USB Serial Cable must be connected to the Android device from Port 2 of the Gallagher Weigh Scale indicator.
  1. In StockMate, from the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).

  2. Tap +Add Device, Weigh Scale.
  3. Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (USB Device: select the USB device). Tap +More serial settings to select additional details such as Data Bits, Parity and Stop Bits. 
    Tap Save. 
    1. For Data Logger Output Mode:

  4. Toggle to initiate the connection. A successful connection will be indicated by a green USB icon. Tap Close.
    Alert
    A successful connection must be established before proceeding.

  5. Toggle the Gallagher W610 v2 to connect.

    The USB icon will turn green when successfully connected.

Connecting using Bluetooth Dongle

The Bluetooth Dongle must be plugged into the connection cable in Port 2 of the Gallagher Weigh Scale indicator.
Alert
You are pairing the tablet with the Bluetooth Dongle NOT directly to the Gallagher Weigh Scale indicator.

  1. In StockMate, from the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).

  2. Tap the Bluetooth icon.
  3. Scan and select the Bluetooth Dongle from the Available devices list. A pairing code will be displayed on the Android device only. Accept the code.

  4. To return to Hardware Connections, use the back button on the tablet.
  5. Tap +Add Device, Weigh Scale.
  6. Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (Paired Device: select the Bluetooth Dongle). Tap Save.

    Name the device clearly for easy selection, as multiple devices can be setup within StockMate.

  7.  Toggle to initiate the connection. A successful connection will be indicated by a green Bluetooth icon.

Using in a Scan Session

To use in a scan session, use Hardware Connections to toggle required Devices on. Refer to Create New Scan Session – Session Setup (app) for further details.
To check Hardware connections, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon), and edit if required.
  1. In StockMate, from the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
  2. Toggle the Gallagher W610 v2 to connect.

    The Bluetooth icon will turn green when successfully connected.

  3. To test in Data Logger Mode: Scan an EID and record a weight on the Gallagher W610 v2 Weigh Scale indicator and it will be transferred to StockMate.

    NotesIf data is not coming through to the Live Readings panel, it is likely the device settings are incorrect - or the connection is not established.
    For troubleshooting tap on the device, and open the console. Send test data - if everything is setup correctly the raw data will be displayed in green.
    Review error messages if applicable and action as required.
