Setup Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scale (and EID Reader) (app)

The Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scale indicator must be used along with a Bluetooth enabled EID reader such as the Allflex RS420.

The setup options are:
  1. Pairing the EID reader to the Weigh Scale indicator.
  2. Connecting the Weigh Scale indicator and the tablet. The devices can be connected via:
  1. Bluetooth;
  2. Wi-Fi; or
  3.  USB serial cable

Pairing the Weigh Scale indicator and EID reader

In this method, the Weigh Scale indicator holds the EID and weight information.

Device Settings

  1. Turn on the Weigh Scale indicator and the EID reader.
  2. Follow the device instructions for pairing Weigh Scales and EID reader.

Connecting the Weigh Scale Indicator and the Tablet

In this method, weight and EID information is transmitted to StockMate during processing.

Via Wi-Fi

Device Settings - Weigh Scale Indicator

  1. Connect the Weigh Scale indicator to the load cells (Don’t plug the Weigh Scale indicator into power supply yet).
  2. Connect the Wi-Fi dongle to the serial port on the rear of the Weigh Scale indicator.
  3. Power up the modem/router. (Attach to external aerial if appropriate; ensure the SIM card is inserted if internet is required).

  4. Plug the Weigh Scale indicator into the power source and power up the Weigh Scale indicator. Switch on the indicator if it doesn’t come up automatically when connected to the power source.

Device Settings - EID Reader

  1. Ensure the EID reader is paired to the Weigh Scale indicator as mentioned in the previous section. (The Bluetooth light should have stopped flashing on the Weigh Scale indicator).

Device Settings - Android Tablet

  1. Go to Settings, Wi-Fi, select the WiFI dongle. You may be prompted for a password on first usage. Input the password. You should see that the Wifi Dongle is now connected.
  2. Open the StockMate App and login as usual.
  3. From the StockMate Dashboard, Tap More (three dots at top-right), Preferences, Hardware Connections, CONFIG
  4. Tick Weigh Scales Connected. Input the details as follows:
    Provider: Rinstrum;
    Communications Method: Wireless.
    Enter IP Address and Port Number.
  5. Tick RFID Reader Connected. For Connection Type, select Via Weigh Scales.
    When you start scanning, ensure that both the RFID Scanner and Weight Scales connections appear in green not red.

Via Bluetooth

Device Settings - Weigh Scale Indicator

  1. Connect the Weigh Scale indicator to the load cells.
  2. Plug the Weigh Scale indicator into power supply and power up.
  3. Connect the Bluetooth dongle to the serial port on the rear of the Weigh Scale indicator.

Device Settings - EID Reader

Ensure the EID reader is paired to the Weigh Scale indicator as mentioned in the previous section. (The Bluetooth light should have stopped flashing on the Weigh Scale indicator).

Device Settings - Android Tablet

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on the Tablet.
  2. Open the StockMate App and login as usual.
  3. Tap More (three dots at top-right), Preferences, Hardware Connections, CONFIG.
  4. Tick Weigh Scales Connected. Input the details as follows:
    Provider: Rinstrum;
    Communications Method: Bluetooth
    Select the Paired Device from the drop down list. It is not selected by default.
    Ensure you are pairing with the Dongle, not the Rinstrum.

  5. Tick RFID Reader Connected. For Connection Type, select Via Weigh Scales.
    When you start scanning, ensure that both the RFID Scanner and Weight Scales connections appear in green not red.

Via USB Serial Cable

Device Settings - Weigh Scale Indicator

  1. Connect the Weigh Scale indicator to the load cells.
  2. Plug the Weigh Scale indicator into power supply and power up.
  3. Connect the USB serial cable as shown in the images below.
    The USB-Serial cable provided with the Rinstrum Weigh Scale indicator will need a female USB to Tablet adaptor to connect to the Android tablet.

Device Settings - EID Reader (optional)

The EID reader may be connected either to the Weigh Scale indicator or directly to StockMate. (The Bluetooth light should have stopped flashing on the Weigh Scale indicator).
It is recommended that the EID reader be connected via Weigh Scales, so a backup session can be obtained directly from the device in the unlikely event that the connection between StockMate and the devices fail.

Device Settings - Android Tablet

  1. Open the StockMate App and login as usual.
  2. From the Dashboard, tap More (three dots at top-right), Preferences, Hardware Connections, CONFIG.
  3. Tick Weigh Scales Connected. Input the details as follows:
    Provider: Rinstrum
    Communications Method: USB Serial Cable
    Speed: 9600
    Data bits: 8
    Parity: None
    Stop bits: 1

  4. Tick RFID Reader Connected. For Connection Type, select Via Weigh Scales.
    When you start scanning, ensure that both the RFID Scanner and Weight Scales connections appear in green not red.

Using in a Scan Session

To use in a scan session, from the Session Setup screen ensure Hardware Connections is ticked on. Refer to Create New Scan Session – Session Setup (app) for further details.
To check Hardware connections, tap Config, and edit if required.
