Setup Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scale (and EID Reader) (app)
The Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scale indicator must be used along with a Bluetooth enabled EID reader such as the Allflex RS420.
The setup options are:
- Pairing the EID reader to the Weigh Scale indicator.
- Connecting the Weigh Scale indicator and the tablet. The devices can be connected via:
- Wi-Fi;
- Bluetooth; or
- USB serial cable
Pairing the Weigh Scale indicator and EID reader
In this method, the Weigh Scale indicator holds the EID and weight information.
Device Settings
- Turn on the Weigh Scale indicator and the EID reader.
- Follow the device instructions for pairing Weigh Scales and EID reader.
Wi-Fi: EID over Weigh Scale
EID Reader
When the connection is established, the blue light on the Weigh Scale indicator stops flashing.
Weigh Scale Indicator
Connect the Weigh Scale indicator to the load cells.
Do not plug the Weigh Scale indicator into the power supply yet.
- Connect the Wi-Fi dongle to the serial port on the rear of the Weigh Scale indicator.
- Power up the modem/router. (Attach to external aerial if appropriate; ensure the SIM card is inserted if internet is required).
- Plug the Weigh Scale indicator into the power source and power up the Weigh Scale indicator. Switch on the indicator if it doesn’t come up automatically when connected to the power source.
Pairing Device
- In StockMate, from the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
- Tap the Wi-Fi settings icon.
- Turn on Wi-Fi and select from the Available networks. You may be prompted for a password on first usage. The connected Wi-Fi network will be visible in the Current Network section.
To return to Hardware Connections, use the back button on the Tablet.
StockMate Settings
- In StockMate, from the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
- Tap +Add Device, Weigh Scale.
- Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (IP Address and Port details will populate automatically). Tap Save.
Toggle to initiate the connection. A successful connection will be indicated by a green Wireless icon. Tap Close.
A successful connection must be established before proceeding.
Toggle the Rinstrum X320 to connect.
The Wireless icon will turn green when successfully connected.
To test: Scan an EID, and record a weight on the Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scale indicator and it will be transferred to StockMate.
If data is not coming through to the Live Readings panel, it is likely the device settings are incorrect - or the connection is not established.
For troubleshooting tap on the device, and open the console. Send test data - if everything is setup correctly the raw data will be displayed in green.
Review error messages if applicable and action as required.
Using in a Scan Session
To check Hardware connections, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon), and edit if required.
- In StockMate, from the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
Toggle the Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scales device to connect.
The Wireless icon will turn green when successfully connected.
Bluetooth: EID over Weigh Scale
EID Reader
When the connection is established, the blue light on the Weigh Scale indicator stops flashing.
Weigh Scale Indicator
- Connect the Weigh Scale indicator to the load cells.
- Plug the Weigh Scale indicator into power supply and power up.
- Connect the Bluetooth dongle to the serial port on the rear of the Weigh Scale indicator.
Pairing Device
On the Android Tablet, pair the BT Dongle.
Do not pair the Weigh Scale indicator to the tablet - it should only be paired to the BT Dongle.
- In StockMate, from the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
- Tap the Bluetooth icon.
Scan and select the Bluetooth Dongle from the Available devices list. A pairing code will be displayed on the Android device only. Accept the code.
Ensure you are pairing with the Dongle, not the Rinstrum X320.
- The Rinstrum X320 will now be visible in the Paired Devices section.
To return to Hardware Connections, use the back button on the Tablet.
- Tap +Add Device, Weigh Scale.
Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (Paired Device: select the device paired in Step 1). Tap Save.
Name the device clearly for easy selection, as multiple devices can be setup within StockMate.
Toggle to initiate the connection. A successful connection will be indicated by a green Bluetooth icon.
A successful connection must be established before proceeding.
StockMate Settings
- From the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
Toggle the Rinstrum Weigh Scale to connect.
The Bluetooth icon will turn green when successfully connected.
To test: Scan an EID, and record a weight on the Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scale indicator and it will be transferred to StockMate.

The Bluetooth icon will turn green when successfully connected.
Serial: EID over Weigh Scale
EID Reader
The EID reader may be connected either to the Weigh Scale indicator or directly to StockMate.
It is recommended that the EID reader be connected via Weigh Scales, so a backup session can be obtained directly from the device in the unlikely event that the connection between StockMate and the devices fail.
Weigh Scale Indicator
- Connect the Weigh Scale indicator to the load cells.
- Plug the Weigh Scale indicator into power supply and power up.
Connect the USB serial cable as shown in the images below.
The
USB-Serial cable provided with the Rinstrum Weigh Scale indicator will need a
female USB to Tablet adaptor to connect to the Android
tablet.
Pairing Device
Plug the Rinstrum X320 Weigh Scale indicator into the Android Tablet.
Do not pair the EID reader to the Tablet - it should only be paired to the Weigh Scale indicator.
- From the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
- Tap +Add Device, Weigh Scale.
Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (USB Device: select the USB Device.) Tap +More serial settings to select additional details such as Data Bits, Parity and Stop Bits. Tap Save.
Name the device clearly for easy selection, as multiple devices can be setup within StockMate.
Toggle to initiate the connection. The USB icon will turn green when a successful connection is established. Tap Close.
A successful connection must be established before proceeding.

The Serial icon will turn green when successfully connected.
