Setup Tru-Test XR5000, ID5000, JR5000 Weigh Scale (app)
The Tru-Test XR5000, ID5000 and JR5000 can be used to output data from the Weigh Scale indicator to StockMate via an Android Tablet. The settings on all three Weigh Scale indicators are identical.
Before use, check that the Weigh Scale indicator has the latest firmware installed. Contact the manufacturer for detail.
If using EID via Weigh Scales; pair your EID scanner to the Weigh Scale indicator following the manufacturer’s instructions before linking the Weigh Scale indicator to StockMate on your Android Tablet.
Bluetooth: EID over Weigh Scale
EID Reader
Connect the EID reader to the Weigh Scale indicator. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Pairing Device
On the Android Tablet, pair the Tru-Test Weigh Scale indicator.
Do not pair the EID reader to the tablet - it should only be paired to the Weigh Scale indicator.
From the
StockMate Options Menu, tap
Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
Tap the
Bluetooth icon.
Scan and select the Tru-Test Weigh Scale from the Available devices list. A pairing code will be displayed on the Android device only. Accept the code.
Tips if Pairing fails:
1. Unpair any other devices from the tablet.
2. Turn off Bluetooth on other devices in the area, e.g. Phones.
3. Turn off the TruTest.
4. Turn the Bluetooth off on the Tablet.
5. Turn the TruTest on - pair with your EID reader.
6. Turn Bluetooth back on for the Tablet - pair again with the TruTest. To return to
Hardware Connections, use the back button on the tablet.
Tap
+Add Device, Weigh Scale.
Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (Paired Device: select the device paired in Step 1). Tap Save.
Select Model per the device being used - JR5000 is just an example used here. Name the device clearly for easy selection, as multiple devices can be setup within StockMate.
Toggle to initiate the connection. A successful connection will be indicated by a green Bluetooth icon.
A successful connection must be established before proceeding.
Weigh Scale Indicator
- Tap Settings, Information to display and record. Tick EID.
- Tap Settings, Recording, Basic. Select options as shown below.
- Settings, Recording, Advanced. Select Record IDs immediately.
- Tap Settings, Connections, Bluetooth. Ensure you can see the EID Reader connected (in the example RS420). Ensure your tablet is connect, if not refer to "Pairing Device" above to pair the Tru-Test.
Select your tablet, Configuration.
- Adjust the configuration as seen below.
- Tap Settings, Connections, Bluetooth, select the EID Reader, Configuration. Select options to reflect the below.
- Reboot the XR5000 the first time after setting up Bluetooth connection per their instructions on the Bluetooth connect screen. (Subsequent connections should not require a reboot).
StockMate Settings
- From the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
Toggle the Tru-Test Weigh Scale to connect.
The Bluetooth icon will turn green when successfully connected.
To test: Scan an EID, and record a weight on the Tru-Test Weigh Scale indicator and it will be transferred to StockMate.
If data is not coming through to the Live Readings panel, it is likely the device settings are incorrect - or the connection is not established.
For troubleshooting tap on the device, and open the console. Send test data - if everything is setup correctly the raw data will be displayed in green.
Review error messages if applicable and action as required.
Using in a Scan Session
To use in a scan session, use Hardware Connections to toggle required Devices on. Refer to Create New Scan Session – Session Setup (app) for further details.
To check Hardware connections, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon), and edit if required.
From the
StockMate Options Menu, tap

Toggle the Tru-Test Weigh Scales device to connect.
The Bluetooth icon will turn green when successfully connected.
Serial: EID over Weigh Scale
EID Reader
Pair the EID reader to the Weigh Scale indicator, following the manufacturer’s instructions before linking the Weigh Scale indicator to StockMate on your Android Tablet.
Pairing Device
Plug the Tru-Test Weigh Scale indicator into the Android Tablet.
Do not pair the EID reader to the Tablet - it should only be paired to the Weigh Scale indicator.
- From the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
- Tap +Add Device, Weigh Scale.
Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (USB Device: select the USB device). Tap +More serial settings to select additional details such as Data Bits, Parity and Stop Bits. Tap Save.
Select Model per the device being used - JR5000 is just an example used here.
Name the device clearly for easy selection, as multiple devices can be setup within StockMate.
Toggle to initiate the connection.The USB icon will turn green when a successful connection is established. Tap Close.
A successful connection must be established before proceeding.
Weigh Scale Indicator
- Tap Settings, Information to display and record. Tick EID.
- Tap Settings, Recording, Basic. Select options to match the below.
- Tap Settings, Recording, Advanced. Select Record IDs immediately.
- Tap Settings, Connections, Serial Cable. Select options to match the below.
- Settings, Connections, Bluetooth, select the EID Reader, Configuration. Select options to reflect the below.

On the Android Tablet, pair the Tru-Test Weigh Scale indicator.
Do not pair the EID reader to the Weigh Scale indicator. It will require connection directly to StockMate.
From the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
Tap the Bluetooth icon.

Output: None when animal ID is received
Output: Weight when weight is recorded
StockMate Settings
- From the StockMate Options Menu, tap Hardware Connections (top-right, comms icon).
Toggle the Tru-Test Device to connect.
The Serial icon will turn green when successfully connected.
To test: Record a weight on the Tru-Test Weigh Scale indicator and it will be transferred to StockMate.
