Setup Tru-Test XR5000, ID5000, JR5000 Weigh Scale (app)

The Tru-Test XR5000, ID5000 and JR5000 can be used to output data from the Weigh Scale indicator to StockMate via an Android Tablet. The settings on all three Weigh Scale indicators are identical.
Before use, check that the Weigh Scale indicator has the latest firmware installed. Contact the manufacturer for detail.
If using EID via Weigh Scales;  pair your EID scanner to the Weigh Scale indicator following the manufacturer’s instructions before linking the Weigh Scale indicator to StockMate on your Android Tablet.

Bluetooth: EID over Weigh Scale

Device Settings

EID Reader

Connect the EID reader to the Weigh Scale indicator. Refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Tablet

  1. On the Android Tablet, pair the Tru-Test Weigh Scale indicator. A pairing code may be asked for, usually 0000 or 1234.
    Typical steps for pairing a device to the tablet; Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > Scan. Steps may vary on some Android devices.
    Do not pair the EID reader to the tablet - it should only be paired to the Weigh Scale indicator.

    Tips if Pairing fails:
    1. Unpair any other devices from the tablet.
    2. Turn off Bluetooth on other devices in the area, e.g. Phones.
    3. Turn off the TruTest.
    4. Turn the Bluetooth off on the Tablet.
    5. Turn the TruTest on - pair with your EID reader.
    6. Turn Bluetooth back on for the Tablet - pair again with the TruTest.
  2. From the StockMate Dashboard, tap More (three dots at top-right), Preferences.
  3. Tap Config.

  4. Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (Paired Device: select the device paired in step 1). Tap Save & Test to establish the connection.
    When the connection has been successfully made, the Save & Test buttons will be green as well as the EID via Scales and Scales BT buttons. Do not proceed unless this is the case.

Weigh Scale Indicator

  1. Tap Settings, Information to display and record. Tick EID.
  2. Tap Settings, Recording, Basic. Select options as shown below.
  3. Settings, Recording, Advanced. Select Record IDs immediately.

  4. Tap Settings, Connections, Bluetooth. Ensure you can see the EID Reader connected (in the example RS420). Ensure your tablet is connect, if not refer to "Device Settings > Tablet" above to pair the Tru-Test.

  5. Adjust the configuration as seen below.
  6. Tap Settings, Connections, Bluetooth, select the EID Reader, Configuration. Select options to reflect the below.
  7. Reboot the XR5000 the first time after setting up Bluetooth connection per their instructions on the Bluetooth connect screen. (Subsequent connections should not require a reboot).

StockMate Settings

  1. From the StockMate Dashboard, tap More (three dots at top-right), Preference, Config.
  2. Tap Save & Test, the button will turn green when the connection is successful. Scan an EID and send a stable weight to test the device.
  3. To use in a scan session, from the Session Setup screen ensure Hardware Connections is ticked on. Refer to Create New Scan Session – Session Setup (app) for further details.
    To check Hardware connections, tap Config, and edit if required.

Serial: EID over Weigh Scale

Device Settings

EID Reader

Pair the EID reader to the Weigh Scale indicator, following the manufacturer’s instructions before linking the Weigh Scale indicator to StockMate on your Android Tablet.

Tablet

  1. Plug the Tru-Test Weight Scale indicator into the tablet.
    Do not pair the EID reader to the tablet - it should only be paired to the Weigh Scale indicator.
  2. From the StockMate Dashboard, tap More (three dots at top-right), Preferences.
  3. Tap Config.

  4. Select options so the Hardware Connections screen will look like the screenshot below (Connected USB Serial Device: select the device connected in step 1). Tap Save & Test to establish the connection.
    When the connection has been successfully made, the Save & Test buttons will be green as well as the EID via Scales and Scales USB buttons. Do not proceed unless this is the case.

Weigh Scale Indicator

  1. Tap Settings, Information to display and record. Tick EID.
  2. Tap Settings, Recording, Basic. Select options to match the below.
  3. Tap Settings, Recording, Advanced. Select Record IDs immediately.
  4. Tap Settings, Connections, Serial Cable. Select options to match the below.
  5. Settings, Connections, Bluetooth, select the EID Reader, Configuration. Select options to reflect the below.
  6. Reboot the XR5000 the first time after setting up Bluetooth connection per their instructions on the Bluetooth connect screen. (Subsequent connections should not require a reboot).

StockMate Settings

Bluetooth: Weight Only

When recording Weight only, the EID reader will be connected directly to StockMate. Do not pair the EID reader with the Tru-Test. Refer to Hardware Connections Overview (app ) for further information.

Tablet

  1. On the Android Tablet, pair the Tru-Test Weigh Scale indicator. A pairing code may be asked for, usually 0000 or 1234.

Weigh Scale Indicator

  1. Select Settings, Recording, Basic. Select options to match the below.
  2. Settings, Connections, Serial Cable. Select options for Port 1 to match the below.
    Input to: EID From: Generic device
    Output: None when animal ID is received
    Output: Weight when weight is recorded

StockMate Settings

  1. From the StockMate Dashboard, Tap More (three dots at top-right), Preference, Config.
  2. Tap Save & Test, the button will turn green when the connection is successful. Send a stable weight to test the device.
  3. To use in a scan session, from the Session Setup screen ensure Hardware Connections is ticked on. Refer to Create New Scan Session – Session Setup (app) for further details.
