Creating Pedigree Trees (web)
StockMate allows parents (Sire and/or Dam) to be linked to an animal. A pedigree tree is then calculated for the animal, taking into consideration the parents of the assigned Sire/Dam (when subscribed to the
Breeding Module). Often many of the animal that are required to create accurate pedigree trees, would not be physical animals under management - and therefore would not otherwise exist in StockMate. To accommodate for this, Pre-Arrival sessions can be used to create animals and assign parents (along with any other information) to allow pedigree reporting, for animals on hand to be complete.
The Pedigree Tree can display up to four generations.
Please note: Pre-Arrival sessions need only be used to create animals, that would not otherwise be in StockMate, e.g. animals that are not currently or previously under management, yet are required to link as parents to an animal record.
The use of Pre-Arrival Sessions will not include these animals as 'Active Livestock'. They will be assigned a Pending Status in StockMate.
Creating the Oldest Generation (Great-Grandparents)
The oldest generation, i.e. the fourth generation, must be created first so that these animals can be assigned as parents to the animals in the 3rd generation.
Please note: Pre-Arrival sessions need only be used to create animals, that would not otherwise be in StockMate, e.g. animals that are not currently or previously under management, yet are required to link as parents to an animal record.
If the required animals already exist in StockMate (via Pre-arrival or other session type) they can be linked as parents to the appropriate animals via CSV import or Scan input.
Create a Pre-Arrival Session. Input Session Name, Expected Property, select Pre-Arrival for Type. Select + Create Session.
A Session Property must be assigned. This will enable reporting on Pending animals, but will not prevent the animals being used as Parents on other properties.
Import or manually enter data as required for the animals. At a minimum an EID is required to create an animal record. Often this information is unknown; therefore a dummy EID may be assigned.
If assigning a Society ID, this can then be used, going forward, as the only identifier needed to link these animals.
Tenant Setting 'Required fields' do not apply to Pre-Arrival Sessions, therefore these data points can be left blank.

OR

Creating the Previous Generation (Grandparents)
A Pre-Arrival Session can be used to create the details of the third generation of animals. The same Pre-Arrival Session used for importing the 4th generation of animals may be used.
- In a Pre-Arrival Session, select Import/Export CSV to import a CSV file of animals.
Alternatively, each animal may be entered individually by selecting + Add Animal.
Refer Create New Session – Import CSV (web) for instructions on importing a CSV file.

- In the CSV file, use the Sire and Dam fields to link the parents of these animals.
If Sire/Dam already exists in StockMate, only one identifier is required to be populated to link to the existing animal.
If Sire/Dam does not already exist in StockMate and does not need any other data against them, you can just populate the Sire/Dam SocietyID field and this will create a new animal the Parent record will link to.

OR - In the Scan Details screen, input required information. Under Parentage, select + Add.
