Joining Plan Scan Screen, Session Defaults, Reporting (web & app)

Before creating a Session to record Joining, ensure that a Joining Plan has been recorded in StockMate. Refer to Joining Plan View and Report (web) for detailed instructions on setting up a Joining Plan in StockMate.
A Joining Plan can only be setup on the StockMate website. The details will pull down to the app on sync. Ensure the App database has been synced successfully after Joining Plans have been added on the web.

Session Defaults on the Web

  1. Create a Handling Session. Refer to Create New Session - Scan Session (web) for detailed instructions on creating a Session on the web.
  2. On the Session screen, select to open the Session Setup screen.
  3. In the Animal Details section of the Session Setup screen, select Edit.
  4. In the Pregnancy section, Tick Visible and Default.
    Tick Joined and select I or A from the drop-down list of Joining Type.
    Use Joining Plan option becomes visible when 'Joined' is ticked.

  5. Tick Use Joining Plan.
    When a female with a Joining Plan is scanned into the session, the Joining Male and batch will auto-populate as specified in the Joining Plan.

  6. To set further Preset options select + Add.

  7. Select , input male animal details, select  to search for animals that exist in StockMate, or select + to add a new animal via Society ID. Input Batch number. Save.
    Presets can be used on the App to easily assign Joining Males and batches to females with no Joining Plan, or overwrite Joining Plans.

  8. When all required Animal Detail defaults have been set, select Save, Done.

Scan Screen on the Web

  1. Select the required Session, select + Add Animal.
    Refer to Create New Session - Scan Session (web) for instructions on how to add animals to a session.
  2. When each animal is added, the Scan Details screen will open. Review and edit the required details for the animal. Save Changes.
    The Joining section will be pre-populated for females with a Joining Plan as the defaults were included in the Session Template.

Session Defaults on the App

  1. Add a new session on the app, refer to Create New Scan Session – Session Setup (app) for further details.
  2. In the Animal Details section, tap Edit.

  3. Tap Pregnancy.
  4. Tick Joining, Set Default, Joined and select Joining type as required.

  5. Tick Use Joining Plan.
    When a female with a Joining Plan is scanned into the session, the Joining Male and batch will auto-populate as specified in the Joining Plan.

  6. To set Preset options, tap Add.

  7. Input male animal details, select  to search for animals that exist in StockMate, or select + to add a new animal via Society ID. Input Batch number. Continue.
    Presets can be used on the App to easily assign Joining Males and Batches to females with no Joining Plan, or overwrite Joining Plans, if required.

Scan Screen on the App

  1. When a female animal is scanned, the Joining section of the screen will be automatically populated. Enter other details as required, tap Save & Close.
    Joining details will be pre-populated only where the Session defaults have been setup.

  2. If a new female animal is added to the session but does not have a Joining Plan, the Joining presets will be available to choose from, as below.
    Tap the Male field to input a male, not set as a default or preset, if required.
    If the Joining Type is set to I or A a Batch can also be entered, if required.

  3. The Joining Section of the Scan Screen for a male animal appears as shown below. The Joining defaults do not apply to male animals in the Session.

Reporting

The Joining Details for Individual Animals, Planned Joining Details for a group of Animals and the Actual vs Suggested Joining Details of Animals can be viewed and reported on.

Livestock Report

The Livestock Report displays Active animals, as at the report date, in StockMate. If required, the user can select to include Dead, Missing or Exited animals.  The report can be highly customised to display a summary or detailed view as desired.

Ordering Semen based on Joining Plans

After Joining Plans have been assigned to animals the Livestock Report can be used to generate a list of required Semen for a particular Joining Session. This could then be sent to the Lab to assist with ordering Semen.
  1. Select Reports, Livestock. Select required Search Criteria to generate a report for the Females to be joined.
    Using the CSV search criteria could be useful if the Joining Group is not identified easily via the traditional Search Criteria. Refer to Report Search Criteria for further information.

  2. Select  to edit the Report Configuration. Create a new configuration, selecting the (planned), and other fields as required. Save.
    Refer to Report Configurations for further direction if required.
  3. Select Load. Select  to download the results to CSV - this file could then be used to assist in ordering Semen for the up coming Joining. 


Details of Actual vs Suggested Joining For An Individual Animal - Animal Details

Once a female has been put through a session where the Joining occurred; Animal Lookup can be used to view the Male that was applied in the session and compared with the Planned Joining. The Joining Male and Batch that were assigned as part of the Joining Plan will have their field header name denoted with (sugg.).
  1. Use Animal Lookup to search for the animal.
    Search via EID, Visual Tag, NLIS ID or Society ID. Wildcard search is also available; use ? for a single unknown character, or * for multiple.

  2. On the Animal Details screen, select the Pregnancy tab to view: Joining Type, the Joining Male vs the Joining Male (sugg.).

Sessions Report

  1. The Report Configuration for the Sessions Report can be configured to display the Actual vs Suggested Joining Details. Refer to Report Configurations for further information on creating a customised config.
